Richmond Regent Theatre

Objective

The existing Richmond Regent is a significant heritage building which originally contained a single theatre that had more recently been converted to two smaller cinemas to meet commercial demand. Subsequently, the Client had purchased the adjacent site with a view to expanding and rationalising the cinema operations. The design aims to integrate the new address in a way that does not detract from the identity of the original theatre.

Outcome

  • Preserved all historic buildings with minimum intervention
  • 2 new Cinemas and Grand Foyer connecting the 2 entities
  • An ongoing presence of theatre in the north west regional area
