Objective

Kim Jones had extensive involvement in the conceptual design stage of the Darling Harbour project. Early concepts included a mixed-use ‘city within a city’ proposal, which led to his appointment as Design Director of the Sydney Exhibition Centre, and responsibility for the Convention Centre and a number of other major projects including the built linkage between Market Street and Darling Harbour.

Outcome

• Unbuilt ‘city within city’ concept a precursor to later urban consolidation initiatives
