Objective

On a Cairns waterfront site facing the Coral Sea to the east and a lagoon to the south, a design for a luxury apartment complex was required to address flooding issues and protected stands of indigenous trees.

Outcome

• 16 super-luxury apartments are distributed in  three buildings to enable protection of trees
• Each building is four levels suspended above a screened understorey reminiscent of a traditional ‘Queenslander”
• Each apartment is essentially a screened veranda containing enclosed spaces and service pods
